Quick Answer
2026 Topps Update Series releases October 14, 2026. It’s the third and final Topps flagship baseball set of the year: a 350-card base set (US1 to US350) packed with rookies, call-ups, traded players and All-Star cards, closing out Topps’ 75th anniversary. Hobby boxes have 20 packs of 12 cards and one autograph or relic. Value Boxes have 6 packs and exclusive Halloween parallels. Fanatics Value Boxes have 8 packs and a Topps Logo Foil parallel about every other pack. Mega boxes usually follow a week or two after release day, so look for them in late October. Rip a free virtual box and check the odds on your chase card with our two tools below.
Every October, Topps Update gives collectors the cards they have been waiting all season for: the first flagship rookie cards of the players who got called up, the stars who changed teams, and the All-Star Game. This year it lands right in the middle of the postseason, with the Guardians playing in the ALCS and rookie Travis Bazzana’s flagship rookie card in the set. Here’s everything worth knowing before you rip it: the box types, the rookies, the new cards, the real odds, and which box to buy.

2026 Topps Update Release Date and Box Types
2026 Topps Update releases on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, in hobby shops, at retail stores and on Fanatics. Like every Topps flagship release, it comes in several box types, and each one has different odds and its own exclusive cards. Here are the main ones:
| Box Type | What’s Inside | Guaranteed Hits | Exclusive To This Box |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hobby Box | 20 packs, 12 cards each | 1 autograph or relic | Rainbow Foil parallels like Purple /250, Orange /25, Red /5 and the FoilFractor 1/1 |
| Jumbo Box | 10 packs, 40 cards each | 1 autograph and 1 relic | Sandglitter parallels, plus the Rainbow Foil parallels from hobby |
| Value Box | 6 packs, 12 cards each | None | Halloween holiday variations and parallels (Jack-o’-Lantern, Ghost, Skeleton, Black Cat, Witch’s Hat, Bats) |
| Fanatics Value Box | 8 packs, 12 cards each | None | Topps Logo Foil Pattern parallels (about 1 in every 2 packs) and Fanatics Authentic memorabilia redemptions |
| Mega Box | Expected 14 packs, 14 cards each (same as Series 1 and 2) | None | Topps hasn’t revealed Update’s mega exclusives yet; expected in late October |
| Hanger Box | 1 pack, 59 cards | None | Diamante Foil parallels |
What does it cost? Topps listed hobby boxes at about $110, but hobby boxes of flagship Update usually sell for more than that at launch, often $175 to $200 in the first weeks. Value Boxes and Fanatics Value Boxes run about $30, and mega boxes have been $49.99 at list price this year. Prices settle down after release week, so if you only want one or two specific cards, buying them as singles later is usually cheaper than ripping.
What’s New in 2026 Topps Update
2026 was Topps’ 75th anniversary year, and Update is the last flagship set of that celebration, so the anniversary content is all over this product. Here’s what stands out:
- 75 Years of Topps. A 75 Years of Topps parallel numbered to 75, a 75 Years parallel of the Real One autographs, and 75 Years of Topps Die-Cut Autographs of Elly De La Cruz, Mookie Betts, Francisco Lindor, Pedro Martinez, Adrian Beltré and Dustin Pedroia. There’s even a celebrity 75 Years autograph set numbered to just 5, with signers like Billy Crystal, Jesse Eisenberg and ESPN’s Maria Taylor.
- 1991 Topps is back. The 1991 design returns as an insert set, with 1991 Topps autographs (including rookies like Travis Bazzana and Chase DeLauter) and a 1991 Topps All-Star autograph set with stars like Shohei Ohtani, Paul Skenes, Juan Soto and Bobby Witt Jr.
- 1952 Rookie Variations. 25 rookies shown on the classic 1952 Topps design, about 1 in every 298 hobby boxes, plus autographed versions numbered to 10.
- Traded Player short prints. Just two cards in this set, showing stars in their new uniforms: Adley Rutschman with the Red Sox and Tarik Skubal with the Dodgers.
- A Halloween Value Box. 100 holiday variations land about 1 in every 2 Value Box packs, with Jack-o’-Lantern, Ghost, Skeleton, Black Cat, Witch’s Hat and Bats parallels. Bats are the rarest, at 1 in 36,999 packs.
- New inserts. Stat Stars, Autumn Ascensions, First Pitch, Topps Black Gold and 2026 All-Star Game inserts, plus returning Heavy Lumber, Home Field, All Aces and Cover Athletes designs.
- Golden Mirror and Golden Mirror Legends. A Golden Mirror version of every base card, and a 50-card Golden Mirror Legend set with names like Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, Ichiro, Mariano Rivera and Nolan Ryan.
The 2026 Topps Update Rookies to Chase
Rookie cards drive the value of any Update set. Rookies whose first flagship card came out in Series 1 or 2 already have one, so Update is all about the players who arrived during the season. Look for the red RC logo on the base card, plus the Rookie Debut cards for players making their first appearance in a Topps flagship set as a big leaguer. These are the names collectors will be hunting:
| Player | Team | Card | Why Collectors Want It |
|---|---|---|---|
| Konnor Griffin | Pirates | US1 (RC) | Card No. 1 in the set and one of the most hyped prospects in baseball |
| Justin Crawford | Phillies | US2 (RC) | Speedy outfielder on a contender, son of four-time All-Star Carl Crawford |
| Carson Benge | Mets | US3 (RC) | New York rookies always carry a market premium |
| Kevin McGonigle | Tigers | US7 (RC) | One of the top hitting prospects in the game, with autographs in the set |
| Owen Caissie | Marlins | US11 (RC) | Power bat with an everyday role |
| Travis Bazzana | Guardians | US75 (RC) | The 2024 No. 1 overall pick, and his Guardians are in the ALCS |
| Nolan McLean | Mets | US10 (Rookie Debut) | Mets pitching prospect with a big following |
| Tatsuya Imai | Astros | US19 (Rookie Debut) | Japanese ace in his first MLB season |
| Jac Caglianone | Royals | US21 (Rookie Debut) | Two-way college star with rookie autographs in the set |
| Munetaka Murakami | White Sox | US350 (Rookie Debut) | Record-setting Japanese slugger, and the last card in the set |
For Ohio Collectors: Guardians and Reds to Look For
Cleveland fans have the most fun chase in the set right now. Travis Bazzana (US75) has his flagship rookie card plus 1991 Topps autographs, and his Guardians are in the ALCS. Fellow Guardians young bat Chase DeLauter also has 1991 Topps autographs. Reds fans should look for young slugger Sal Stewart and the Elly De La Cruz 75 Years of Topps Die-Cut Autograph, numbered to 75 or less. If the Guardians keep winning in October, expect Bazzana’s cards to be some of the most-searched cards in Ohio this month.

2026 Topps Update, using Topps’ published pack odds
Your best pull
For fun only. Hobby and Value Box odds are Topps’ published per-pack odds for 2026 Topps Update (Value Box uses Topps’ blaster and holiday odds). Topps hasn’t published Fanatics Value Box or Mega Box odds for Update yet, so apart from the Fanatics Logo Foil parallel those are estimates (marked “est.”). In 2026 Series 1 and 2, Fanatics and mega boxes had about the same per-pack odds as Value Boxes, so we use Value Box odds for them. Inserts without published odds are left out. No real cards are opened, and results don’t predict any actual box.

Pack odds are hard to picture. This calculator turns them into boxes and dollars. Pick a box type and your chase card, set the price you’re paying, and it shows your chance of pulling it, how many boxes it takes for a 50/50 shot, and what a 90% shot would cost. How many 2026 Topps Update boxes does your chase really take?
Your odds
Odds are Topps’ published per-pack odds for 2026 Topps Update. Value Box odds use Topps’ blaster and holiday odds. Odds marked “est.” are our estimates: Topps hasn’t published Fanatics Value Box or Mega Box odds for Update, and in 2026 Series 1 and 2 both had about the same per-pack odds as Value Boxes, so we use those. Prices are editable; the defaults are list prices, and real prices vary by store. Every pack is a fresh roll of the dice, so these numbers are averages, not promises.
A few numbers that surprised us:
- A coin-flip shot at any FoilFractor 1/1 takes about 379 hobby boxes, roughly $41,700 at $110 a box.
- A coin-flip shot at a 1952 Rookie Variation of one specific player takes about 5,157 hobby boxes. Buying that card as a single will almost always be cheaper.
- A Bats Halloween parallel takes about 4,275 Value Boxes for a 50/50 shot, which makes it one of the rarest non-numbered cards in the whole product.
- On the other end, a Fanatics Value Box gives you better than a 99% chance at a Topps Logo Foil parallel in every box, and a hobby box gives you about a 9% chance at a 1991 Topps autograph on top of its guaranteed hit.
Which 2026 Topps Update Box Should You Buy?
- Buy a hobby box if you want a guaranteed hit. It's the only common format with an autograph or relic in every box, and it has the hobby-only Rainbow Foil parallels, including the FoilFractor 1/1. It also has the best odds on 1991 Topps autographs and 1952 Rookie Variations.
- Buy a Value Box if you want the most fun per dollar. At about $30 you get 72 cards, a holiday variation about every other pack, and a shot at Halloween parallels you can't get anywhere else. They're great for kids, gifts and rip nights in October.
- Buy a Fanatics Value Box if you like parallels. It's a different configuration from the regular Value Box: 8 packs instead of 6, and a Topps Logo Foil parallel about every other pack, plus a chance at Fanatics Authentic memorabilia redemptions. In 2026 Series 1 and 2, Fanatics boxes had about the same per-pack odds as Value Boxes on cards like Golden Mirrors and 1952 Rookie Variations. If Update follows that pattern, the two extra packs give you about 33% more chances per box at the same price. What you give up is the Halloween parallels.
- Buy a mega box if you want the most cards for the money. Series 1 and 2 megas had 196 cards (14 packs of 14) for $49.99, with mega-exclusive parallels and per-pack odds close to Value Boxes. Expect Update megas to follow a week or two after release day.
- Buy singles if you want one specific card. As the calculator shows, chasing one player's short print or numbered parallel can take hundreds or thousands of boxes. Rip for the fun, buy singles for the PC.
